FEB. 20th -- THURSDAY ISLAND CANCELLED!!!

Thursday Island is cancelled on Wednesday!!

I did get a sunrise at Thursday Island

Beautiful
We were awakened at 7:00 AM by an announcement from the Captain to advise that he is cancelling our stop at Thursday Island.  The sea is too rough to tender us safely ashore.
So, we have another sea-day.

We have coffee on our balcony, and it is sunny and a little breezy and then we get rain.  We are having our coffee in the rain and see a rainbow form from the water into the sky.

Rainbow...pretty.

We decide, as we have nothing planned now, to go to the Seven Seas Show Lounge for Terry Bishop's  Enrichment Lecture.
Barry found out yesterday from his Brit buddies, that Terry is also 68 years old.  He was born the day after me...Feb. 20, 1951!  So, I am his elder!
Anyway, his lecture is called "February 19, 1942...Australia's Own Pearl Harbour".  It is about an hour long and very interesting.  Terry is a good speaker.

Because of the impromptu sea-day, they are showing a movie on the big screen in the Seven Seas Lounge.  They're showing "Rabbit-Proof Fence".  I'm going to go see it.
Turns out, the movie was very good.

Tonight we have a Cocktail Party & a show..."I Am Australian" at 6:00 PM.

We head downstairs at 5:30 PM and Rich & Carol join us in a drink before the doors open to the Seven Seas Show Lounge.
The room looks great...there is an ice sculpture in the center of the canapés table.  I think it is a Crocodile...or a Dolphin???

What do you think? Crocodile?  Dolphin?
Everyone settles in with a cocktail and a "nibbly" and the show begins.

The show was written by Terry Bishop...a very talented guy.
The Seven Seas dancers & singers perform.  It is terrific.
Applause, applause .... and we race out the door!!

Did I mention we were double-booked tonight?

We have a dinner in Prime 7, sponsored by the Ensemble Travel Group -- Janet & Chris Rathy; for all the World Cruisers in their Ensemble Group.  Dinner is set for 6:30 PM and we advised the Rathy's we'd be a little late as we were going to the show.
We get upstairs about 6:45 PM and sit with Rich & Carol (somehow they beat us up there) and Mark & Sandy, which is great as we know both couples very well.

Dinner is wonderful.
I have beef tenderloin with mushrooms and a Caesar salad to start.  Classic.
Barry has a beautiful Seafood Platter with lobster, shrimp, crab legs and a scallop -- all served cold with cocktail sauce & 1000 Island dressing (it's a lot like Louie Sauce) and he had Beef Tartar to start.  Delicious.

Back to the room.
Sea-Day tomorrow en route to Darwin.
G'night.

  2. Happy Birthday! Bet it was marvelous... I can't think of a better place to celebrate it. We'll have to get together when you return, and do a reenactment! Take care and God blees..
