Our excursion is called "Noumea Highlights with Wine & Cheese" and we leave at 1:15 PM by bus.
This is a French island.
The bus takes us through the city pointing out churches, prisons and housing built by French prisoners in the late 1800's. We go to the top of the Noumea Cathedral and see a shrine to Mary as well as panoramic views of the island.
We make several stops for pictures.

We end up at Chateau Royal Beach Resort where we have a wine & cheese tasting. All the wines are French -- a Chardonney, a Rose and a Cabernet. They were matched with French cheeses -- a Gouda, a Chèvre and an Emmental. There was also bread and water to cleanse the palate. By the way, the chèvre or goat cheese was really delicious with the rose wine.

We explored the grounds and had a look at the beach.
After that, we head back to the ship.
Tonight, weather permitting, we are having a "GRAND DECK BBQ" under the stars (7:00 - 9:00 PM). The pool deck is being decorated and a huge BBQ feast is being presented outside on the pool deck. After dinner, at about 9:00 PM, there is a dance outside called "Rock the Boat" with the full orchestra playing outside.
When we got back at 4:00 PM preparations were in full swing.

So, the staff and crew of the ship prevailed, in spite of the weather, and there was both the Grand Deck BBQ and the Rock the Boat dance. It rained off and on until about 7:00ish.
