JAN. 21 & 22nd -- BORA BORA, BABY!!

Well our long-anticipated Bora Bora trip has finally come…and gone.

First sighting....

We got off the boat on Monday, Jan. 21 (the boat is in harbour 2 days) and go to a resort overnight.  We are staying in an air-conditioned room that sits over the water, with a glass floor and a thatched roof.  It’s just like you see in the movies and in commercials.  The resort is Le Meridian, Bora Bora.
When we arrived at the resort, we check-in and received a “Welcome” drink.  We also got a lei – it smelled fabulous.

Welcome cocktail -- Cheers!!

We got lei-d!!

The water temperature is 82°F/28°C and the air temperature is 85°F/30°C.
When we arrived to our room (#212) there was chilled white wine and a fruit tray waiting …then we changed and got into the water.  It was fabulous!

Glass bottom floor!!!

Barry swimming below the floor

The mountain & the huts

Ta-Dah!!!

Our feet on top of the glass floor.

At 6:00 PM we head to the bar for a pre-dinner cocktail. Marian has a Mai Tai …we meant to have one in Hawaii but forgot.  Barry had a bourbon.  There was no Canadian whiskey on the island.  (The island is French-speaking.)

Mai Tai anyone??

6:00 PM on Bora Bora
Part of our package was a 3-course dinner with wine.

Barry had Tahitian raw fish in lime & coconut milk, Crusted black-garlic beef tenderloin with fava beans & mushrooms.
Marian had Beef carpaccio, Mahi Mahi crusted with almonds & basil with red pesto risotto.
Then we shared Soft Chocolate Hearts for two (they we all gooey like an under-baked brownie) with berries and vanilla-bean ice cream.
We had a wonderful Italian red wine.
Delicious!!!
They presented us with a personalized copy of the menu at the end of dinner.

The next morning breakfast is brought to our room
This is very cool.
They called it our “Canoe Breakfast”.  When we checked-in we gave them our breakfast order.
Then, the next morning, it is delivered by canoe. They set it up outside and left the same way – by canoe.

Here comes breakfast...

The setup.

Look at that water...how beautiful is this!
.
We check out at 11:00.

I was given Polynesian Flower Crown before leaving for the ship

We are taken back to the habour dock to go back to the ship.
We do a little shopping in town before heading back to the ship.  Bora Bora has a lot of Tahitian Pearl stores.   We were looking for a Pandora store but will probably have to wait until we get to Tahiti.
