JAN. 12th -- MAUI, HAWAII

Aloha.

We are in Maui.
We are going whale watching today at 1:00 PM.

At 9:30 we take a shuttle into town and went to the mall. We walked around and looked for a pharmacy.  We needed some “stuff”.  We then headed back to the boat for our tour.

Maui Reef Adventures takes us out in a Zodiac boat.  We are in a marina with a large, deep bay that attracts humpback whales where they mate and start to raise their young.
The water is 75 degrees F.
Leaving harbour

About 20 minutes out we suddenly see a whale blowing out air and spraying water up into the air.  She then comes out of the water and shows part of her 40-ton body.  Soon after her baby does the same.

"THAR SHE BLOWS"

We are in the boat for 2 hours and see at least 15 whales blow and come out of the water, one large whale breaches up out of the water and shows her whole body including her tail.  How she gets the strength to pull 80,000 lbs. out of the water, I’ll never know.

Another fantastic adventure.

Aloha.
