We have a sea-day.
We are en route to Sihanoukville (try and pronounce that!), Cambodia and we arrive there at 6:00 AM tomorrow.
We meet the Hirschmann's at 9:00 AM in La Veranda for breakfast and to plan our day at sea.
At 10:00 AM we all head to the Seven Seas Lounge to listen to the Enrichment Lecture with Terry Bishop. His talk is entitled "Thailand -- The Land of the Free with a Dark Past & The Railway of Death". The movie that is about this time in history is "Bridge Over the River Kwai" with Alec Guinness...we all know that one, right?
After that we split up.
Wendy & I shopped around a bit...looked at the duty-free perfumes and some clothes.
At 11:50 we headed up to the 11th Deck, to the Galileo Lounge, to play Bingo. What a hoot! We played 4 games and it took about an hour. We won NOTHING!!

Whoa...heavy concentration

Bingo...with champagne & cookies. How good is that!
We then went downstairs to the Pool Deck for lunch. The Pool Restaurant is doing a Dim Sum Lunch.
Lunch was good however I spilled some beer on myself and had to go change.
When I got back, Wendy & I decided we'd go to a jewelry fashion show in the Stars Lounge at 3:00 PM. Barry & Mike were going to do their own thing.
As we get up to leave Barry notices a woman at the hot tub having some difficulty. She's sitting on the edge of the pool, she's lost her grip with one hand and is dipping backwards toward the water in the hot tub....she's lost her balance and can't pull herself up with one arm. Barry went up and grabbed her arm and pulled her up and out.
She was shaken up but OK.
Barry, "the Hero".
Anyway, Wendy and I have some time to kill so we head up to Deck 7 and buy some mascara and look at watches in the jewelry store. The jewelry designer, Christin Van Geuze, is there getting ready for her show. She asks us if we are going to the show and we said "Definitely...we're just early so we're killing time before the show."
She looked at us and the asked "How'd you like to be in the show...you could model some of my pieces?"
Hmmmmmm.
After about a nano-second we both said "Absolutely!"
While Christin went about get things for us to model, Wendy quickly snuck away and called Mike to tell him to come down and take pictures...and let Barry know.
Unreal!

So, Wendy and I are "Jewelry Models" now. LOL
We have a celebratory drink at Galileo Lounge and chat until 5:55 PM. We have just enough time to get back to our cabin and change for the evening. (Shorts are not allowed after 6:00 PM in any of the lounges or dining rooms.)
Beautiful sunset at sea
We are having Italian tonight at Sette Mari.
Big day.
Cambodia tomorrow!

Well done Barry! The world needs hero's. So glad the lady was ok.
ReplyDeleteMarion, you and Wendy make beautiful models. So now I'm thinking Mike has just become a 'fashion photographer' by default. Way to go!
Hope you got to keep a souvenir or two of your escapades. I would love to see the pieces up close.
Unfortunately, there will be no souvenirs...the earrings I modelled were $720.00 US. So, no!
DeleteBut it was fun to participate....a wonderful memory.
