MAR. 6th -- HONG KONG & THE HIRSCHMANN'S

We are en route to Hong Kong, China.

We are on our way to Hong Kong and the Hirschmann's are meeting us there!  They arrived in Hong Kong yesterday, March 5 and are there waiting to join us.  We arrive there tomorrow, March 7th at 8:00 AM.


Mike & Wendy are meeting us on the dock and the four of us are going to the Mandarin Hotel for lunch.  It should be the lunch of a lifetime!!  We can't wait  (we have been missing our friends)...there will the full story and pictures tomorrow!

There is a good backstory to this adventure.

About 10 years ago Barry read an article about the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong and how it is one of the best in the world.  He said to me, someday I want to go there for lunch.  Cool.
So, fast forward several years and we are in the Cayman Islands.  I believe Mike Hirschmann was with Barry at the time.
They are at the squash club in the Caymans and having beers after playing and Barry asked the guys  if anyone had ever been to Hong Kong.  One guy replied that he'd been there about a hundred times.  So Barry told him what he had read about the Peninsula Hotel and his plan to do lunch there someday.  The guys said..."OK but you have to also have dinner at the Mandarin Hotel and have lunch at the Peninsula Hotel."  So, the plan changed.
Last year, when we booked our World Cruise, we realized that we would be in Hong Kong and we would have one night in port.  So, this was it.  We would be able to do both the lunch & dinner at the Mandarin and lunch at the Peninsula.
We told Hirschmann's our plan and Mike said "I'm meeting you there for lunch!  I'm flying over and meeting you!"
So, that's how it happened.

Now, the second great thing that they did....Mike and Wendy then booked a cruise, on our ship, from Hong Kong to Singapore.  Awesome or what!  They get on the ship on March 8th.

The next two weeks should be a hoot.
I will try to post daily but with Mike & Wendy here, I'm not making any promises. There should be a lot of action and a lot of fun.

Tonight is the "Krew Kapers" at 6:00...where the show features the crew on the boat as they wish farewell to everyone that is leaving the boat in Hong Kong.

We also have a dinner invitation to join the Food & Beverage Director, Donald Curbelo, at 7:00 PM.

He ordered a "Wow" wine for us to have with dinner.  It was a 2015 Francescan, from Napa Valley.  It's a Meritage...69% Cab & 23% Merlot.
So, that's it.
The end of another quiet sea-day.
