MAR. 21st -- KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA

We dock at 10:00 AM in Port Klang, near Kuala Lumpur.  Kuala Lumpur has a population of 1.8 million people and it is the capital of Malaysia as well as the largest city.
We have an excursion today called "Kuala Lumpur On Your Own" that leaves at 10:30 AM.  This tour is 7 1/2 hours long...curses!!  However, after about a 1-hour drive into Kuala Lumpur, we are on our own to sightsee and shop.  We leave at about 5:00 PM and as it is rush hour it will probably be 1 1/2-hours back.  Long day.

Picture of the twin towers
Kuala Lumpur (also called KL) is the home to one of the tallest twin buildings in the world.  It is called Petronas Twin Towers.  You need tickets ($22.00 USD each) to go to the top however they were sold out the day we were there.

FYI -- Temperature is:  90°F/32°C -- chance of rain ☔ ⛈
The money here is: Malaysia Ringgit (MYR)
The exchange rate is:  $1.00 US = $4.08 MYR

Street food ...maybe not.
We get into Kuala Lumpur about 11:30 AM and are dropped at the mall called Lot 10.  It is very central and easy to walk.

Barry and I go to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur for lunch and we see if they have a roof restaurant.  Turns out they don't.  However, the have a Chinese Restaurant serving lunch of either Dim Sum or off a full menu.  We thought this would be fun.
This restaurant is fabulous and a little intimidating ... sort of wishing I knew how to use chop sticks!
Barry orders us the full Peking-duck lunch and Jasmine tea.
What a treat...it was wonderful and it only cost us about $30.00!!

My place setting...too intimadated to take picture of the duck

After lunch we definitely need to do some walking so we went shopping.  As it was raining, we went to an inside mall.  Marian bought a cute little white dress at a store called ZARA...I think I've seen these stores in the U.S. too.
Waiting out of the rain with a glass of iced tea
There were huge souvenir malls with inexpensive everything.  It was fun to browse.

We head back to the boat at 5:00 PM and don't get back until 6:45 PM.  I have been feeling off all day... feels like a cold coming on.
We decide to stay in again tonight...Room Service and a movie.
I popped a cold pill at bed time and hope it helps.

  1. Here's to hoping that a cold doesn't come into full bloom.
BTW, YouTube offers excellent tutelage on how to use chop sticks. Check it out on your spare time....if you get any! Lol. Talk to you soon, I am on my way to the Bakers for our usual Friday night party! Don't be surprised if your ears are burning!!!
