MAR. 4th -- BORACAY ISLAND, PHILIPPINES

We have arrived in beautiful Boracay Island, Philippines with their beautiful beaches.

View of the port.
Busy port
We do not have an excursion today.  We are just going to take the tender over and there is a "free shuttle" from the port to White Beach.  So, that is what we do.

Here is a little background story on what is going on here.  Boracay was closed in April 2018.... yup, the President closed all the beaches and the hotels.  The influx of tourists had taken its toll on the island.  Beach fronts were taken over by commercial establishments, shores became strewn with paddlers & hawkers and the water was becoming dangerously polluted from mismanagement  of sewage and disposal systems.

The island went through a massive rehabilitation and re-opened in October 2018.

So, OK.  It is not exactly restored to its former glory.  There is still building and construction EVERYWHERE.  The roads are terrible and there is really only one shopping area.

Barefoot Man!!!

Shot from the beach, back at the shops
Guess who?
Tiki Bar!!!  Beer break.
However, as you can see by my pictures, the beach is wonderful.

We spent half a day here and then headed back to the ship.

Kids were playing as we headed to our tender

Quiet afternoon and at 4:00 PM we went to the Pool Deck and visited with Mark and Sandy and several other people we have gotten to know.
We have Room Service -- a couple of salads -- and watch "A Star is Born" with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper...really well done.  We liked it.
Bed.
We have an excursion tomorrow at 8:35 AM in Manila, Philippines.
